Mexico Family Vacation May 24-31, 2012

In May we took a family vacation to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico as our amazing christmas gift from Wes' parents Steve and Cindy! The whole family was suppose to go until Wes' brother Brad and his wife Jessica found out they were expecting their first child and would be too far along to join us.

We stayed at The Royal Hotel {the same resort Karli and Matt went to 10 days later for their honeymoon}!  It was a really great week and in the midst of all my drama with my job search it was so nice to get away.

Here are some pictures from our adventures!

Father's Day

Sunday was a father's day I tried to block out. Last year it was my first one with out my dad and it was very hard to accept. This year my plan was to kind of not acknowledge the day instead of try and honor him and get all sad. I have many more years to do {I am sure father's days when we are parents will get emotional on a whole new level and make me appreciate and miss my father even more},

So we stayed busy - very busy. Saturday we went down to the Heritage Brew Festival to taste some beers and meet up with some friends.  Sunday we had an early tee time {that we missed because of a detour}, so we went to the driving range, headed to the grocery store and were laying by the pool by 11:30! Once we were nice and RED - we headed home to shower and drove down to the wineries! We got home about 7 and grilled out steaks and drank some wine! It was an absolutely perfect day. No tears, no self loathing, just a good Sunday Funday with my husband...Just what I needed!

50 shades.....

Like everyone on the planet I decided to read the trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey, Darker, and Freed.

I did not really know what to expect - all I heard on the radio and Ellen was that is was a women's porno. I never really intended on reading until we were getting ready for our Mexico Family Vacation and and the 4 of us girls talked about all reading a book together (book club style) and my brother-in-laws girlfriend's Jacklyn threw out that she just started reading this.

I did not expect it to be so addicting! I had not read a book in over a year in a little over a week I read three fairly long books.

Here is my take on the 3. The first book, Fifty shades of Grey is the darker book. The second book, Fifty Shades Darker, is really a mix of the dark and happy parts. And Fifty Shades of Freed is lighter and wraps up the story.

As for the sex....well it is detailed and leaves you wondering.
All of us shared that is definitely sparked the fire in most of bedrooms over our vacation. I even gave the books to Karli for her Honeymoon and she agreed as well.

I think my favorite quote of the week was one of my BIL's saying "Get on top of me and read your book." I don't think most men would be this interested in books we read.

Baby MANIA - Drew Menz

On 6/3/12 at 6:00 am my dear friends Lyndsay and Jake Menz brought their daughter Drew Olivia Menz into the world.  She was almost a month early but healthy and happy - all 5lb 2 oz of her!

I was lucky enough to visit her in the hospital and here are some pics from my trip of this perfect little lady!

Easter with the Fam.

I am usually not home for holidays because my husband, Wes' parents live almost 3 hours away. But my grandmother, Betty got very ill about a month before and she is 89 and I realized I need to make a better effort to see my family. After my dad died it was very hard to my family stuff without him, but I do not want to regret later that I did not spend more time with them. So I snapped a few photos that day as well.
